Paradise Lost

Twiglets A twiglet’s aim is to “prompt” a thought. “Sunken Sky”

Waitomo Glowworm Caves attraction on the North Island of New Zealand.

No one knows what happened. Not for sure anyway. There are guesses like, atomic war or global warming or a huge asteroid or comet hitting the earth, maybe even E.T.’s razing the earth for minerals and metals. Doesn’t really matter after all this time cause our elders say we will never live top side again.  Not that anyone would want to. We’ve all seen pictures of what’s left above.  A surly sun, jaundiced and wan, stuck to a dun sky like a pustule.  Everything the eye sees is some dingy, dirty form of brown.

I feel so sorry for those people who never knew all the beauty of this world. When I look up at the glowing sky and feel the coolness of the air, I can only feel grateful for what I have.  The future looks bright for our citizens. “Here’s to never looking back, always forward,” I think and hurry off to the mushroom bins and another day’s work.

I was just reading an article on what plants/veg you can actutally grow indoors. In a cave works.
A very sci fi feel to this piece. I like it.
(Just as I’m typing a thunderstorm has hunkered down on us, with some fierce windage too! You might be getting the same storm…stay safe!)
